With a $695 annual fee and a range of perks, the card will compete with established offerings such as Chase\u2019s Sapphire Reserve and the American Express Platinum Card, which carry fees of $795 and $695, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Expected to launch in Q2, the card will offer 5% cash back on dining and flights booked through its travel portal, along with 10% cash back on hotels and rental cars booked through the platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cardholders must have a Robinhood Financial brokerage account to redeem the rewards they earn. Cash back is deposited directly into that account, where it can be used through the company\u2019s travel portal or with select online merchants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-tough-crowd\">Tough Crowd<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The card is aimed at affluent, high-spending households, though that segment is already heavily targeted by established premium cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRobinhood\u2019s new card is interesting, but they certainly will need to brace themselves for some well-established credit cards in this space,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/javelinstrategy.com\/our-team\/brian-riley\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Brian Riley<\/a>, Director of Credit at Javelin Strategy &amp; Research. \u201cJavelin\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/javelinstrategy.com\/services\/card-bench\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Card Bench<\/a> indicates that the Robinhood card, issued by Coastal Bank, will have to compete against American Express\u2019 Schwab Investment and Platinum Card, Bank of America\u2019s Merrill Lynch Premium Rewards Card, Wells Fargo\u2019s Advisor\u2019s Card, UBS Bankcard, and U.S. Bank\u2019s Raymond James Reserve Rewards+.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEntry into this space requires that the card not only meet the standards of a premium credit card, but it also must be supported by a trading account,\u201d he said. \u201cThat goes far beyond the standards of a block and tackle general purpose credit card.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-building-on-the-gold-card\">Building on the Gold Card<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The launch is part of Robinhood\u2019s broader push into consumer-finance services following the introduction of its Gold card in 2024. The company says that card now has <a href=\"https:\/\/robinhood.com\/us\/en\/newsroom\/robinhood-unveils-the-future-of-family-finance-at-robinhood-presents-take-flight\/?irclickid=R823wQxuZxyZULzxFUwd1zTZUku2--12rymjUs0&amp;irgwc=1&amp;afsrc=1&amp;utm_source=impact&amp;utm_campaign=10078&amp;utm_content=Skimbit%20Ltd.&amp;utm_term=1375188&amp;source=impact&amp;shared_id=upgradedpoints.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more than 7 million holders<\/a> and about $10 billion in annualized spending. Robinhood has also introduced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paymentsjournal.com\/robinhood-aims-to-bring-wealth-management-solutions-to-everyday-investors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wealth management<\/a> and private banking features over the past year as it seeks to deepen engagement within its app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRobinhood\u2019s Gold Card has experienced moderate success in the market,\u201d said Riley. \u201cWith the new fee, Robinhood will need to ensure it can attract and retain high net worth customers with more than just baseline rewards.
